Bude's Beaches

Inspiring painters, photographers and visitors alike, Bude’s beaches are truly breathtaking. At Summerleaze Beach you will find lots of colourful fishing boats and beach huts, as well as a gorgeous tidal swimming pool. Crooklets Beach, just a 20 minute walk from the park, offers a huge expanse of golden sand and rock pools and is popular with surfers of all abilities. A few miles out of town you’ll find even more beach delights such as Northcott Mouth, Widemouth Bay and Sandymouth.

Bude Sea Pool

Bude Holiday Resort are proud sponsors of Bude Sea Pool. Created in the 1930s, part man-made and part natural environment, Bude Sea Pool is an incredible part of Bude to uncover.  Refilled each day by the incoming tide you can enjoy a blissful swim amongst the cliffs and bathe in the sunlight at this unique spot. Admission is unrestricted and completely free of charge.

Bude Town Centre

Bude is a popular family resort and winner of the Best Coastal Resort for two years in a row!  The town centre has some lovely independent shops and has plenty of easy parking making a trip in to town quick and easy.  There is a Sainsburys just 10 minutes from Bude Holiday Resort and other larger supermarkets just outside of town

The wharf shopping area has a regular farmers' market and some fantastic artisan shops. If you are looking for some local art to display in your holiday home this is the place to come.  The High Street has a few familiar brands but also independent souvenir and surf shops for you to enjoy. 

Bars and Restaurants

Bude has a wide selection of cafes, traditional pubs, restaurants and bistros to discover. So you can spend time finding your favourite before returning again and again!  With local fishermen still active in the area it is possible to get the freshest of Cornish seafood and eat out with spectacular views over the beach too.  The annual Bude for Food event shows off all of the best local food products and also has demonstrations from some fantastic chefs.

There is a great choice of Cornish pubs and Inns to visit for a swift half and make sure you seek out Bude's very own brewery if ale is your drink of choice.  Bude also provides laid back beach bars if that is more your scene.

Bude Canal

Take a stroll beside or paddle along the historic Bude Canal. Stop off at the local Tourist Information Centre and head to the Canal where you can hire a rowing boat, canoe, kayak, pedaloe, or bike for you and your family. The level towpath makes the Canal ideal for wheelchair users and pushchairs and you can discover all sorts of wildlife and nature as you make your way down the Canal.

History Heritage and Culture

Bude has plenty to offer in the way of history, heritage and culture and has some less well known sites to discover.  From historic buildings such as Poundstock Gildhouse and the 13th Century Penhallam Manor to the romantic Hawker's Hut at Morwenstow, there is plenty of Cornish history to explore.  Bude also provides rich heritage through nearby castles including magical Tintagel, Bude Castle and Heritage Centre, plus other forts sited nearby.   Bude has a passionate artistic community too and Bude Arts and Music (BAM) ensure there is plenty going on from local music to film clubs, festivals and more.  We are also lucky to have the Rebel cinema, just outside of Bude which is a small, traditional cinema showing the latest releases.    

Walks & Bike Rides

Bude Holiday Resort has a private path which leads straight from your holiday home to the renowned South West Coast path.  Here is the start of many beautiful walks which never get dull, no matter how many times you do them.  Bude Tourist Information Centre also has some leaflets with some great short and long circular walks around the local area available.

Bude has some lovely quiet route-ways ideal for cycling and it is not far from the the Wenfordbridge end of the Camel Trail, which is much quieter than the Padstow to Wadebridge stretch, and is blessed by the small but beautiful snail's pace cafe too!

Golf Courses

Bude Holiday Resort is lucky enough to have the Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club right on our doorstep.  The cub offers a challenging 18 hole links course and boasts exceptional drainage lending itself to year round playing.

There is also the Ivyleaf Golf Course and Driving Range nearby which has some spectacular views from its 9 hole parkland course.  The Ivyleaf also offers a covered floodlit driving range and practice greens.

Gardens

Bude Holiday resort's location on the border of Devon and Cornwall means that you can explore the gardens of both counties.  Just 30 minutes drive away you can explore Docton Mill Gardens which is a 9 acre site set around the watercourse that runs through the garden ,out to the spectacular Atlantic Coast.  The nearby Hartland Abbey also has gardens surrounding the 12th century building which you can visit.

Spas and Wellbeing

Bude has some great spas to choose from for pampering treatments or spa experience days from exclusive spa locations with the addition of pools, sauna and steam rooms; or local businesses offering pamper treatments such as massage or beauty therapies.  It is easy to find somewhere where you can completely chill out whilst visiting your holiday home.  

Family Friendly Attractions

There is plenty to do in Bude for all the family, whatever the weather!  Open all year round, Harlequinns Leisure Centre offers entertainment for all the family with one of the biggest indoor playzones in the South West and a tenpin bowling alley.  For a family day out filled with space-themed adventures, head to North Devon’s Milky Way theme park. Ride the Cosmic Typhoon roller coaster, go wild on the assault courses and slides inside the indoor play area, and kick back to watch some amazing magic shows and animal displays. The adventure awaits!

North Devon

Bude is right on the border of Cornwall and Devon so a holiday home at Bude Holiday Resort puts you within easy reach of beautiful North Devon too.  You can explore the picturesque village of Clovelly, visit the dramatic scenery of Hartland Point, hang out at surfer's paradise: Croyde, explore the winding streets of Appledore, book a visit to Lundy Island or visit the popular towns of Bideford and Barnstaple.  Two counties for the price of one!
